Dr. Elizabeth Whitaker brings to her patients the benefits of a world-class education combined with unparalleled experience. Having performed thousand of facial procedures including over 4000 facelifts alone, she is one of the most experienced Facial Plastic Surgeons, not just in Atlanta, but the entire country. Dr. Whitaker partners with her patients in creating a plan to enhance their appearance while emphasizing a natural result. She understands that the ideal outcome is looking “your personal best” not like a “different person”.
Dr. Whitaker’s journey began in North Carolina where she was born and raised. She was selected to attend the prestigious North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics at the age of sixteen. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Davidson College, majoring in Biology, where she was also elected Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Whitaker was then selected to attend the world renowned Duke University School of Medicine, receiving her Doctorate of Medicine. She was subsequently selected for residency training at Emory University, right here in Atlanta, in the very competitive field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery. After completing her residency, Dr. Whitaker elected an additional year of advanced fellowship training focused exclusively on cosmetic surgery of the face at Tulane University in New Orleans with Dr. Calvin Johnson, one of the world’s premier Facial Plastic Surgeons. These exclusive and competitive fellowships are offered to only 38 candidates internationally each year, and only a handful of surgeons in Atlanta have this specialized training.
Dr. Whitaker is Double Board Certified and a Fellow of both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. She has also been elected a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Whitaker’s interest in education also extended to teaching others in the field of Facial Plastic Surgery. This was exemplified by her appointment as Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgia Regents University where she taught residents how to perform facial plastic procedures, and where she remains a Clinical Assistant Professor. She has also served as Chief of her surgical division at Kennestone Hospital. She has served both as a guest examiner and on the exam development committee for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which determines the qualifications of candidates for board certification in Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Whitaker is a member of several national societies, has authored both articles and book chapters in the field of Facial Plastic Surgery, serves on the board of her local medical society, and is active in her community. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you look your personal best!
